Youth Aerial Arts Level 1

Experience what its like to be an aerial acrobat. At level 1 children will focus on (1) metal apparatus, the static trapeze and (1) fabric apparatus, the aerial hammock also known as sling. They will also learn silk knot and have a circus exploration day where students will have fun with apparatuses that we don't train on regularly. Our circus arts instructors will provide guided instruction in a safe and encouraging environment, where their confidence and creativity can soar. Dance concepts and ground acrobatics will also be a part of their training. 45 minutes.

This year we have a Fall Semester and a Winter/Spring Semester. See Schedule Below.

You may choose to manage your child’s enrollment on your own and register for (2) 8 week courses or for pay for the full 16 week semester in which a discount of $15.00 will be applied. *If you would like to register for the semester, contact the studio at aerialartsrochester@gmail.com and we will assist you with enrollment.
There is an annual registration fee of $25 and a max of $40 per family.
No reservations will be made without payment and a completed client account. A Parent or Guardian must sign the electronic waiver. Those who do not have a signed waiver will be unable to participate.
We reserve the right to cancel or combine classes if minimum enrollment is not met. You will be notified.
A valid email address is required. This is how the studio will send various communications.
Registrations are accepted online with credit card payments. We will accept cash and check payments providing you come to the studio during normal business hours. Please be aware we will not hold your spot until payment has been made.
Class sizes are small, with enrollment set at 8 participants. We will take an absolute maximum of 10 for those who may be completing a make-up class.

Levels & Class Content
Expect your child to be in same level for the school year program. This is because they will learning multiple apparatuses and there is a lot to learn.

Level 1 Classes are 45 minutes. Level 2 classes are 55 minutes.
All level 1 courses will explore aerial hammock and static trapeze in addition to partner acro.
Level 2 courses will introduce the aerial silks and the aerial hoop.

Safety Rules
* All children need to start at level 1 even if they have prior dance or gymnastics experience.
* There is a no jewelry policy.
* Proper attire is required. Leggings and T-shirt, Tank or Leotard. Shorts are not recommended as they can cause abrasions from the apparatus.
* No shoes on the gymnastics flooring.
* No one may go on any equipment at any time without an instructor present.
* No gum will be allowed.
* Due to the nature of aerial acrobatics, safety is our number one priority. Therefore, if your child’s behavior is disruptive or distracting they will be asked to sit out until they are ready to participate.
* Mats are to be used at all times when children are on the equipment.
* Our classes have a 5 to 1 safety ratio. Many of our classes have 2 instructors.

Observation Weeks
We kindly ask that parents do not stay for the duration of class. Parents may watch the first day of class and on week 8 of the session only. We will notify you about observation days.

Location and Parking
We are located in the Blossom Business Center next to Artisan Works Art Gallery. Our entrance is in the loading dock facing Blossom Road. Although our parking is not convenient, there is plenty of it! Please park in the free lot designated for building tenants on Blossom Road. WARNING if you park in spaces for other building tenants, you risk being towed.

Discount Policy
We do not have a multi-family discount. However if you pay for the semester in full, a $15.00 discount will be applied.

Make Up Policy
Make ups must be prescheduled by contacting the studio at aerialartsrochester@gmail.com
One make up class will be permitted per semester. Make-up classes must be completed within the semester you are enrolled.

Refund Policy
There will be no refunds once the semester has started. If you are concerned that your child may not like this activity, please attend one of our Introductory Workshops or schedule a private lesson.

Performance Opportunities
Our Youth Aerial Showcase is scheduled for late June. To participate in this recital, it will be required for students to attend the 6 week performance session staring in May. It is imperative that children are able to attend all 6 of those classes in preparation for the showcase. Classes will be 55 minutes in length.

If your child would like to perform before June, they are welcome to participate in our December Student Showcase however this recital will include our adult students as well. To participate, your child can form a small group or take private instruction. Please see your instructor for more details.

Cancellation policy Cancellation & Refund Policy
You will need to cancel your enrollment a minimum of 3 days prior to the start of session, so that we may contact those who are on our waiting list. If less than 2 days in advance, the studio will issue an account credit valid for future use. Refunds will not be issued one the session has started.
If you are able to provide a doctors note for illness or injury, AAOR will also issue account credit for future use at anytime during the session.

Make Up Class Policy

Weather Related Cancellations

Should any classes be cancelled because of uncontrollable factors, such as weather, the studio will issue a pro-rated account credit. This credit cannot be exchanged for a refund. Cancellations will be posted on our website, Facebook page, and (time permitting) emailed to students via Pike13.
